Family: A wife, Doris, a daughter, Kate and a grandson, Gordon. He has a great uncle, Mario, and possibly an ex-wife named Fiona, who may be the mother of Kate.

Education: Unknown, although he may have attended Sandhurst Military School.
Occupation: Military leader of UNIT in the UK. Originally a member of the Scots’ Guards, The Brigadier has been involved with UNIT for many years, and has helped the Doctor to foil many alien threats to Earth, including The Great Intelligence, the Cybermen and the Zygons, as well as enemies closer to home, such as the Scientific Reform Society and Operation Golden Age. Initially sceptical of the Doctor and his methods, the Brigadier later appointed him UNIT’s scientific adviser, and came to rely heavily on his guidance in matters involving alien contact and strange phenomena.
After leaving UNIT he worked for some years as a teacher of Mathematics at Brendon Public School.
The Brigadier is currently retired, but his association with UNIT continues and he still occasionally works with them. At some point in the last several years he was knighted.
