You grab your bag, get into the car, and drive off before you have the chance to change your mind. This was definitely the best choice – the roads aren't too bad, really, for this time of day. You'll be there in two or three minutes. Everything is going to be fine, you think. Just let this final stretch of road be all right.
Of course, it isn't. There's been a car accident, just up ahead. Not a huge one, but enough to stop the traffic from moving. There are a couple of cars at awkward angles, and people standing around shouting at each other. There's a line of traffic waiting behind them.
You sigh, and drum your fingers impatiently on the steering wheel. There's a woman getting out of one of the cars now, and she's crying, and one of the men is patting her on the back and trying to calm her down. There's another man still shouting and gesticulating at them. Nobody seems to be doing anything about getting the traffic moving again.
It occurs to you that you could probably use one of the settings on your sonic lipstick to shunt the cars to the side a bit so that the rest of the traffic can squeeze through. It's a tempting thought. Bit risky though. If someone spots you things could get out of hand, and you're already getting phone calls from UNIT on a weekly basis begging you not to get into any more trouble.
But the fact remains – you're going to be late for Parents' Evening if you don't do something pretty soon.
You decide to just go over there and have a look, see if it's feasible to move the cars a bit without anyone noticing you. It surely can't hurt just to look.
You decide to wait it out. The police will probably be here soon, they'll get the traffic moving again. It isn't worth the trouble it would cause just for a couple of minutes advantage.
