Family: Father – Sir Donald Wakefield, deceased; Mother and step-father – names unknown, they run a ski resort in the Swiss Alps and are very well off

Education: We know only that Josh studied some Latin at school, but didn’t pay much attention
Occupation: Undecided. Josh has had various jobs, including working at McDonalds, Waterstone’s, a printing press and a builder’s merchants, but at the moment his role as Sarah’s “guardian angel” seems to be taking precedence.
Childhood: Josh is an only child, raised in the city, and his parents are divorced. His mother seems to have remarried. Josh remained in contact with his father and has continued to be strongly influenced by him despite nobody knowing of their connection.
As a young man, Josh set several buildings alight, and apparently was quite good at it, until he got caught. He later became involved with some unsavoury fringe groups, and ended up spending eight months in Feltham Prison.
Career: After apparently cleaning up his act a bit and moving from one dead-end job to another for some time, Josh seemed to find his calling protecting Sarah from her many enemies. He had never handled a gun until he met Sarah, and eventually killed to save her life on several occasions.
As well as Sarah’s protector, he is her travelling companion and sidekick, running around for her and sometimes using his credit card, provided by Nat, to sort out their transport.

• Foods Josh likes include Brie cheese (but not mozzarella), chocolate, bacon with lots of fat on, treacle tart and custard, spinach salad, risotto and instant mash and baked beans. He likes his steak well done. He doesn’t like tripe at all. He drinks decaff, or lager.
