The Gift Story: The Gift Year: 2009 Written by: Rupert Laight Directed by: Alice Troughton Synopsis: The Blathereen have a gift they want to share with mankind, but Sarah Jane doesn't know whether to trust them... Sarah Moments: * Sarah and the kids attempt to retrieve a matter compressor stolen from the Pharos Institute  * Sarah and the kids share dinner with the Blathereen, and accept a gift from them  * Sarah frets when Luke is suddenly taken ill because of the rakweed spores  * Sarah teleports to the Blathereen ship, in Antarctica, and threatens them with a watergun full of vinegar * Sarah is very relieved when Luke recovers * Sarah explodes the Blathereen  Capture, Rescue and Mortal Peril: * Sarah and the kids (and the world!) almost get destroyed by the Slitheen, but the Blathereen come to the rescue at the last minute * Rakweed spores attack Sarah Jane and Luke in the attic, but Mr Smith hoovers them up   * The Blathereen restrain Sarah and intend make her watch the destruction of Earth, but she escapes and teleports away  Quotes: * ‘Sarah Jane Smith! Makes no sense without you.' - Sarah * 'This is loaded with vinegar. You're going to do exactly as I say, or I'll blast you to oblivion.' - Sarah, to the Blathereen * 'My son is dying, and I'm not going to let you or anyone else take him away from me. So keep perfectly still - I'm feeling trigger-happy.' - Sarah * 'What would Sarah Jane do?' 'She'd do what she always does - improvise. Come on.' - Clyde and Rani * 'I was more frightened than I have ever been in my life. I nearly lost the most important thing in the universe - you.' - Sarah, to Luke * 'For once, I truly hoped we'd found a friend out there - someone Earth could trust. A way for all of us to move forward, humans and aliens together. I was wrong - this time. But it doesn't mean our next visitors will be the same. There are friends out there too, friends who really will want to help us. And as we all know, there's nothing more important than friendship. And then one day, with a little luck, and a lot of hard work, Earth could be a shining example to the entire universe.' - Sarah Jane Wardrobe Appreciation It's the return of the pink shirt for the beginning of the story:     The next waistcoat has lots of buttons, and there's a cute little jacket...
