Quotes:

• ‘I've always loved the night sky. As a child I would lie in bed, gazing out of my window, and fall asleep counting the stars – then dream about what might be out there. But I never dreamed that one day I would find out. How could I possibly have imagined everything that I would see? Everything that we would see.' - Sarah, to Maria
• 'It could be my imagination, Mr Smith, but since your reboot, have you acquired a sense of humour?' - Sarah
• 'My dad's been offered a new job… In America.' 'America.' 'Yeah, he applied for this place in London, then out of the blue they offered him a job at the head office in Washington.' 'Well, that's excellent news.' 'Yeah… I suppose. But… how can I leave all this behind? Everything I've seen?' 'Nothing stays the same forever. If there's anything I've learned in my life, it's that. People always move on.' 'Why are you being like this? I don't want to leave you!' 'Well, all the same, you must.' 'Please don't… I'm sorry!' 'There's no need to be sorry, Maria, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful life in America.' - Maria and Sarah
• 'Come on – in this day and age, the idea of aliens shouldn't be so difficult to accept!' - Sarah
• 'I thought I told you two to stay out of the woods?' 'I know, but did you really think we would?' 'Of course not – that's why I'm so angry with myself!' - Sarah and Clyde
• 'Oh no… it can't be!' 'What is it?' 'We have to get out of here right now. Back to the car – quickly!' 'What is it, Sarah Jane?' 'This is too big for us, I can't handle this – I have to contact UNIT!' 'You never wanted to call in UNIT before! You don't like the military!' 'That is a Sontaran space pod. I've seen one twice before, and I prayed that I would never see another, and never on Earth. Sontarans are brutal killers. If there are Sontarans here then we are in trouble, very big trouble. They only ever have one thing on their minds – conquest.' 'Sontar-ha!' - Sarah, Maria, Clyde, and a sudden Sontaran...
• 'You have encountered my kind and survived. You are indeed an extraordinary female.' 'Flattery won't get you anywhere.' - Commander Kaagh and Sarah
• 'I bet that must be quite annoying – one man destroying an entire battle fleet. The Doctor's my friend, Kaagh. So you'd better watch out.' - Sarah
• 'One life is as sacred as an entire planet.' - Sarah, unwilling to sacrifice Maria to save the Earth
• 'What I would like to know is how Chrissie knew where to hit a Sontaran? …I suppose it can wait!' - Sarah, exasperated
• 'Your mum will have saved the world – she won't have a clue!' 'Believe me, it's better this way. We'd never hear the end of it.' - Sarah and Alan, as he and Maria plan to convince Chrissie it was all a dream
• 'Think that's the last we've seen of him?' 'I hope so. Of course, with some people it really doesn't matter how far they travel – they never really go away.' - Maria and Sarah

• 'Maria, I really am sorry for how I reacted when you told me about America.' 'It doesn't matter. We were sort of busy.' 'No, I was wrong. You see, well, for the first time I felt as though I'd found a family – and so soon, so suddenly, it felt like I was losing it. Losing the daughter I always wanted.' - Sarah and Maria. Awww.
• 'I remember it all, you know.' 'Sorry?' 'The Sontaran – what really happened with my shoe. Don't worry, I won't say anything. They deserve a new start. We all do.' 'Thank you.' - Chrissie and Sarah

• 'I learned a long time ago that if you're missing somebody, just look up at the night sky. Whoever it is, wherever they are, chances are they’re looking at the stars, just like you. Sometimes, for all its size, the universe isn't such a big place after all.' - Aw, Sarah, that's... unlikely, but sweet...

Wardrobe Appreciation

Well, welcome to a new season of Sarah's wardrobe! Our first outfit only puts in a brief appearance, and it's nice and simple - hard to tell if it's a skirt or trousers, but my money's on the latter:

The blouse is nice, it has stripes on it...

Her next outfit is the one she wears most of the way through the story, and it's the old reliable jeans-boots-waistcoat thing.

Seems to be the same stripy blouse from earlier, and a gorgeous striped waistcoat with big buttons. Later she has a jacket and a satchel, too.

The final outfit appears only briefly, but it's a pink shirt and a different stripy waistcoat!

Bonus Pictures

Sarah is as excited as we are that the show's back!

And as sad as we are that the Jacksons are going *sniff*

Guess what - Clyde's still awesome!

How cute is this?

Chrissie has a flash car!

This story scores a ten on the Hugometer:

"GOODBYE, JACKSONS!"

You will be missed. Come back soon!

And then there were three... for now, anyway...
