• Eckersley attacks Sarah and the Doctor with the Refinery Defence System
• Sarah threatens Eckersley with a gun to stop him from hurting the Doctor, but while she’s distracted he wrestles it from her again and locks her in the Communications Room

Quotes:

• ‘The Citadel of Peladon, Sarah – one of the most interesting and…’ ‘Oh, no it isn’t, is it, Doctor?’ ‘No, not exactly.’ ‘No, it’s not your precious citadel at all – it’s another rotten, gloomy old tunnel!’ ‘Yes, well, with the scanner still on the blink, there was no way I could really check.’ ‘There’s more than the scanner on the blink…’ - The Doctor and Sarah arrive not quite where they expected
• ‘Oh, why don’t we just go back to the TARDIS?’ ‘For two good reasons – one, that I don’t want to leave Peladon without having a word with my good friend the King…’ ‘Namedropper…’ ‘And second…’ ‘What?’ ‘We are lost. Come on.’ - Sarah and the Doctor
• ‘Aliens. You are accused both of sacrilege and sabotage. Do you confess?’ ‘No, we don’t! I don’t know what you’re talking…’ ‘Silence! I addressed your master.’ ‘He is not my master!’ - Ortron and Sarah
• ‘Ambassador, we take it that these aliens are known to you?’ ‘Er, not the… female? Not the female, Your Majesty, still, she is of no importance.’ - Queen Thalira and Alpha Centauri discuss Sarah
• ‘These Earth females seem to have a distressing tendency to rash action.’ - Alpha Centauri, on Sarah
• ‘You’re overdoing things! All right, so, so you need an alarm system – but does it have to be something that drives people out of their minds?’ - Sarah on the Refinery Defence System
• ‘What advice did the Doctor mean?’ ‘Well, it’s going to be rather difficult to explain, but I think he was referring to Women’s Lib.’ ‘And what’s that?’ ‘Women’s Liberation, Your Majesty. On Earth it means – well, very briefly – it means that we women don’t let men push us around.’ ‘It’s not like that on Peladon. The ruler is always a man. I was only crowned because my father had no son. It’s Ortron who holds the real power.’ ‘Well, only if you let him, you’ve just got to stand up for yourself.’ ‘It would be different if I was a man. But I’m only a girl.’ ‘Just a minute – there’s nothing “only” about being a girl, Your Majesty! Never mind why they made you a Queen – the fact is you are the Queen, so just you jolly well let them know it!’ - Queen Thalira and Sarah
• ‘Quite the little Napoleon, aren’t we?’ - Sarah to the Doctor, on his strategy
• ‘I still can’t believe it – I can’t believe that he’s dead. You see, he was the most alive person I ever met.’ - Sarah on the Doctor
• ‘Can’t you ever stay out of trouble?’ - Sarah to the Doctor
• ‘It’s a sort of trance – I shut myself off.’ ‘You did it on purpose? You mean I had all that worry for nothing?’ ‘Well, don’t sound so aggrieved – anyone would think you prefer me dead!’ - The Doctor and Sarah

From the Target Novelisation:
Novelised by Terrance Dicks

• Her name was Sarah Jane Smith. She was an independently minded freelance journalist from the planet Earth in the twentieth century, and she had been the Doctor's more or less unwilling companion on a number of adventures. - I dunno, she looked pretty willing to me...
• Sarah was still grumbling as they came along the corridor to the communications room. - Doesn't that girl ever stop moaning?
• The Doctor turned and sprinted off down the gallery. Abandoned again, thought Sarah bitterly. - You think that was bad, Sarah, wait another couple of seasons...

Wardrobe Appreciation

Sarah's dressed practically for the mines and things in this episode:

And get a load of the jumper, it's fab!

And a pretty good look at the boots this time, as well, aren't they nice?

The Panel Said...

Style Watch:
Sarah_JaneSmith: I'm lovin the funky jumper but again i'm not keen on the leather jacket or the trousers. 6/10
Llin: I love the jumper, the jacket and the boots! 8/10
paranoidangel: I'm not at all convinced by the way the trousers stop at the boots but the rest of it's not too bad 7/10

Sarah Watch:
Sarah_JaneSmith: I cant remember anything that remarkable about her in this episode but i do like the scene where she cries over the doctor. 4/10
Llin: She argues with everyone! But she does think the Doctor is dead, like, three times... 8/10
paranoidangel: Does she actually do anything of any use in this? I did like her telling the queen about Women's Lib though 3/10

Story Watch:
Sarah_JaneSmith: There is no reason at all for this to be a 6 parter! it could have been easily shortened to a 4 parter, it's a bit slow and confusing. 4/10
Llin: It gets a bit repetitive what with all the captures and escapes, but still good fun. 6/10
paranoidangel: I think I lost the will to live watching this 1/10
