Story: The Thirteenth Stone, Sarah Jane Adventures Audiobook

Synopsis: Sarah tells the story of a trip to a creepy stone circle, where an ancient legend came to life.

Sarah Moments:
• Sarah helps on a school trip to the Stone Whisperers Visitor Centre, and worries that she's embarrassed Luke by coming along
• She, Luke and Maria ponder the nature of the King Stone
• They meet a scientist, Professor Jacqueline Lawton, who's analysing the composition of the stones, and she tells them the spooky story about them
• Sarah and the gang get invited to the computer suite to see the results of the research, and notice something strange and creepy about the stones!
• Naturally, Sarah worries when Luke is possessed by an evil king
• Sarah works out a way to get Luke back temporarily while he's possessed
• Sarah and the gang have the obligatory group hug when the danger is over
• Sarah makes up a lame excuse for all the weird stuff that happened

Capture, Rescue and Mortal Peril:

• Sarah and the kids are trapped inside the dome and get chased by scary stone knights with big swords!
• While possessed, Luke pushes Sarah over and makes her sad!
• Sarah encourages Luke to throw off his possession by Ravage

Quotes:

• When I travelled all those years ago, I saw such things! But do you know, for all the alien worlds, and all the spectacular sights of the universe, there is nothing quite so beautiful as our own planet. And nothing quite so strange as the things that happen here. And nothing in the whole of time and space is quite the same as helping on a school trip. - Sarah
• I'm in the business of undead rampaging alien warlords, not the school sick bucket… - Sarah
• 'Did you do medieval history?' 'I've certainly "done" medieval,' I said. I spared him the details though. It might have ended the conversation. Might have earned me a padded cell and a straitjacket, too. - Mr Bradbury and Sarah chat about history
• 'Oh, don't tell me you've got a set-up like this in your cellar?' 'You do not want to know what I have in my cellar,' I told [Clyde], only half joking. - What does Sarah keep in her cellar? Answers on a postcard...
• Sometimes, I think I'm getting paranoid. Other times, I know they're out to get me. And somewhere deep inside I knew that this was one of those out-to-get-me times… - Sarah
• 'Luke? Luke, you have to help us!' I told him urgently. 'Can you hear me? It's…' I almost said, it's your mother. 'It's Sarah,' I said. - Aaw. Just one example of the many adorable bits of this story
• 'But, why Luke?' I asked. 'Why not… why not me?' 'With your wealth of experience and imagination and personality?' Ravage's face twisted into a cruel smile. 'Your mind would expel me in an instant.' - There they go again, villains complimenting Sarah...

The Panel Said...

Sarah Watch:

paranoidangel: I didn't feel like she did much in this story, but perhaps it was partly because the whole gang are together and they can all do so much. 7/10
Llin: She tells the story brilliantly, and her relationship with Luke is lovely. 9/10

Story Watch:

paranoidangel: I didn't feel that the idea of Sarah on Luke's school trip worked at all. It didn't help that it took half the story for anything unusual to show itself. 6/10
Llin: I really enjoyed this! It really captured the characters, and there were moments when I actually gasped in shock! 10/10
