Synopsis: Androvax, the Destroyer of Worlds, is back, and he's on a mission. Having discovered that the cryogenically frozen last few members of his people are held in a ship inside the fabled Vault of Secrets, he tries to break in, but when he fails, he turns to Sarah Jane and the gang for help.

He possesses Rani to gain access to Mr Smith, but Sarah is able to trick him into a containment vortex. Rani confirms his story that he is dying from a bite he received from a Moxolon swamp viper in prison, and all he wants is to restore his people while he still can. Sarah Jane is touched by his story and wants to help in spite of his past. But in order to gain access to the vault, Androvax needs two activator discs, and he only has one.

Meanwhile, Gita has joined a UFO group, led by former abductee Ocean Waters. They try to use an alien detector at Sarah's house, after Gita catches a glimpse, but she puts it out of action with the sonic lipstick before they can detect Androvax.

Sarah Jane, Clyde and Rani go to the abandoned asylum where the entrance to the Vault of Secrets is hidden, and find newspaper clippings of UFO sightings, including one relating to Ocean's abduction in 1972. But they are detected by the Men in Black, androids who guard the vault, and who know the location of the second activator disc.

The Men in Black chase them out of the asylum and they return to the attic. Sarah decides to talk to Ocean Waters, and Androvax convinces her to take him with her in case he can help Ocean to retrieve memories of her abduction wiped by the Men in Black. He needs a body to travel in, and Clyde offers himself up.

At Ocean's house, Sarah talks to Ocean about her experiences, and discovers that she has had the second activator disc ever since 1972. Androxax, in Clyde's body, grabs both discs, but the Men in Black appear to take them back. Androvax flees, and, bumping into Gita, takes her body instead to throw off the pursuit.

Mr Dread, the leader of the Men in Black, explains that the veil ship can't be taken from the vault, because the activation of the stardrive will create a dimensional disturbance that will tear the planet apart. Sarah is forced to reconsider her wish to help Androvax.

Back at the asylum, the gang search for Gita/Androvax, and Rani and Clyde manage to rescue them from one of the Men in Black. Rani convinces Androvax to use her body instead, but tricks him and leaves him in his own body while she, Gita and Clyde escape.

Sarah finds Androvax and he tricks her into letting him use her body, as he takes the discs to open the vault. Androvax leaves Sarah's body to find the Veil ship and activate it, locking the door and trapping everyone outside, with two minutes until the Earth is destroyed.

Sarah Jane convinces Mr Dread to use his own power cell to run a broken transmat to get the Veil ship out of the vault and into space before it can destroy the earth. Before he powers down completely, he wipes Gita's memories of everything that happened.
