Whatever Happened To Sarah Jane?
Story: Whatever Happened To Sarah Jane?, The Sarah Jane Adventures Episode Seven and Eight
Synopsis: There's a meteor heading for Earth, but Sarah reassures Maria that when it's in range, she and Mr Smith will deflect it safely. The next morning, Maria discovers to her horror that Sarah Jane and Luke have disappeared, and she seems to be the only one who remembers them! A woman called Andrea Yates is living in Sarah's house instead.
Maria finds a newspaper that says Sarah Jane Smith fell from a pier and died in 1964, and with her was her friend Andrea Yates. Maria, wanting Sarah back and realising that without her, the meteor will destroy the Earth, confronts Andrea, but Andrea sends a Graske after her. Maria ends up in limbo with Sarah Jane, after briefly meeting a teenage version of her in 1964 and asking her not to go onto the pier. Sarah tells her that, in the real timeline, it was Andrea who fell from the pier.
A dark, cloaked figure, the Trickster, tells Sarah Jane that he has removed her from history and replaced her with Andrea so that the meteor will destroy the Earth. Back on Bannerman Road, as the meteor approaches, Alan manages to bring Maria back, and they try to bring back Sarah Jane.
Sarah appears to Andrea in the mirror, and explains that Andrea has to sacrifice herself to save the Earth. Eventually she does, and everything is returned to normal – except that Alan remembers everything, and demands an explanation for all the strange things going on lately…
Sarah Moments:
• Sarah hangs out in the park with the gang, watching Clyde and Alan skateboard, and gets all worried when Clyde falls over, bless!
• She gives Maria a strange puzzle box – an alien gave it to her and told her to give it to the person she trusted the most
• Sarah disappears! Nobody remembers her except Maria! And some creepy Andrea woman is living in her house!
• Sarah appears to Maria in a mirror, and Maria hears her calling for help
• Back in 1964, 13-year-old Sarah Jane Smith meets a very confused Maria on a pier
• Sarah and Maria are reunited in limbo when Maria is removed from history too, and Maria catches Sarah up on events
• The Trickster reveals his evil plan to Sarah
• Maria disappears again and Sarah's upset!
• Sarah appears to Andrea in the mirror
• 13-year-old Sarah sees her friend Andrea fall off the pier, as history returns to normal
• Alan demands an explanation from Sarah and the gang about all the weird stuff going on

• 'You'd destroy all life on Earth – you don't even care!' 'I care about you. You are so wonderful, Sarah Jane Smith. Your life was so important, and I found the right moment to snuff it out, with the help of Andrea Yates.' - Sarah and the Trickster
• 'I will return when the Earth is no more, and I will explore your potential further – in particular, your memories of this Doctor…' 'You leave him alone!' 'I can use you to find him – imagine if the Doctor had never existed… what chaos there would be, across the stars…' 'Don't you dare! Don't you dare! Don't you dare!' - The Trickster, and Sarah being very protective of the Doctor, aww!
• 'Well, look at you – scrubbed up well. Always did look younger than you were.' - Andrea, to Sarah
• 'Who says I'm meant to die? I was so young, I had so much to do! And I did it, look at me! I lived every single moment because I knew what it was worth!' 'So did I!' 'And you're the Chosen One? The Golden Girl?' 'Oh, nobody was chosen – it was stupid and pointless, what happened that day, but this is worse! That thing twisted it, he used you!' 'So I die? At thirteen?' 'And my son gets a chance to live! He's lost out there, Andrea, somewhere terrible, and I am begging you, please, save him!' - Andrea and Sarah
• 'You were never forgotten, never! What I saw that day, it changed me forever. I saw how precious life is, and it made me fight to defend it across all these years, because of you, Andrea! It was all because of you! My best friend.' - Sarah
• 'You're back!' 'Was I away?' 'And you are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever going away again! - Sarah, Luke, and a bit of ironic foreshadowing?
Wardrobe Appreciation

Style Watch:
Sarah_JaneSmith: I like her big cardigan, is it the same one she wore at the start of IOTB? and i love her coat, i like the way it sort of flares out at the bottom and on the cuffs. she needs some new jeans though, has she only got one pair? 9/10
paranoidangel: I wasn't that excited about anything she was wearing in this. But, at least it wasn't hideous (except for the school uniform, but then that's what they're designed to be). 8/10
Llin: She looked lovely as ever, but the outfit didn't really grab me. 7/10
Sarah Watch:
Sarah_JaneSmith: I like her being all mumsy, she really loves luke and i think it's adorable, i just wish they had more screen time. Little sarah was cute, and sarah in limbo was awesome, loved her excited jumping at the end. 10/10
paranoidangel: She doesn't really do much except talk Andrea round at the end, and that probably only works because they used to be best friends. 7/10
Llin: Wow - what a fantastic performance! In terms of action she doesn't do a lot, but there's so much emotion here. Little Sarah was fabulous too. 10/10
Story Watch:
Sarah_JaneSmith: I liked this one, my favourite so far, very mysterious and creepy, Andrea was ok, bit sympathetic towards her at the end. Alan was superb, im glad hes gotten more involved. not enough luke though in this episode though, shame. but yeah definately the best episode yet.
paranoidangel: I really liked this. Mostly because Alan was so cool! 9/10
Llin: That first scene is probably my favourite scene from the whole series. Everyone does really well here, it's great to watch. 10/10
