If you're missing SJA now that the series has finished and you're looking for your Sarah Jane fix, why not take the opportunity to catch some of her appearances in classic Doctor Who, and the Big Finish audios?

If you haven't ever watched any before, it can seem a little daunting, but here's a handy guide to help you out - just choose your favourite episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures, and we'll tell you an episode of the classic series, or an audio, that you might enjoy too!

Invasion of the Bane - Terror of the Zygons:

The Bane made quite convincing humans, right up until they wanted to eat somebody. The Zygons pretended to be human too, and almost had Sarah Jane and the gang fooled. This story also features kilts, accents, UNIT and the Loch Ness Monster.

Revenge of the Slitheen - Robot:

In both of these stories, Sarah must stop a countdown to global destruction! Plus the fact that they both introduce new characters who will go on to become very well loved - Clyde Langer, and Harry Sullivan. Robot is the first appearance of the UNIT doctor who will travel with Sarah Jane in the TARDIS.

Eye of the Gorgon - The Brain of Morbius:

Mysterious orders of chanting sisters are a major feature in both of these stories. The Sisterhood of Karn aren't outright evil like the Gorgon's followers, but you still wouldn't want to cross them.

Warriors of Kudlak - The Sontaran Experiment:

General Kudlak was willing to use human children as soldiers in an intergalactic war, and the Sontarans were even more unscrupulous, experimenting on a band of humans to determine their usefulness. Neither of them stood a chance against Sarah Jane though!

Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? - Comeback:

In both of these stories, Sarah Jane Smith doesn't exist. In the first, she's erased from history, and in Comeback she's in hiding, going by an assumed name, and working in a bank until a seemingly chance encounter with a robbery suspect leads her into an adventure...

The Lost Boy - Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre:

Someone's always out to make Sarah Jane look like some sort of crazy criminal, usually to get revenge on her for defeating them in the past. Mirror, Signal, Manoeuvre has extra germ warfare, and Sarah saves the day through the power of grammar!

The Last Sontaran - The Time Warrior:

In The Time Warrior, Sarah meets her very first Sontaran - the alien race who'll later give her trouble at Goblin's Copse. But more importantly, it's also her very first meeting with the Doctor, not to mention her first trip through time.

Day of the Clown - the Tao Connection:

Young people are mysteriously disappearing, and Sarah discovers that they are being used by sinister forces. That's as far as the similarities go, though, as in The Tao Connection, Sarah investigates a mysterious health clinic, puts on a fun accent and kisses young men in gardens!

Secrets of the Stars - The Masque of Mandragora:

A sequel in all but name, Secrets of the Stars takes a lot of the ideas from Masque of Mandragora and plays around with them. Ancient celestial forces, crazy astrologers, hypnotism... and a masked ball!

Mark of the Berserker - Revenge of the Cybermen:

If you thought Paul Langer under the influence of the Berserker looked gross, check out Sarah after being bitten by a Cybermat! Don't worry, she gets better.

The Temptation of Sarah Jane Smith - Test of Nerve:

In both of these stories, Sarah has to make a tough decision that could have devastating consequences, both for her and the rest of the world. Test of Nerve has more nerve gas, though.

Enemy of the Bane - Invasion of the Dinosaurs:

Sarah's friend the Brigadier makes an appearance in both of these stories - see him in action back in his prime, battling randomly appearing dinosaurs in London with his usual panache.

Prisoner of the Judoon - The Hand of Fear:

It's never good news for the Earth when Sarah Jane gets possessed by a freed alien prisoner bent on destruction - but it's definitely fun to watch. Plus, The Hand of Fear is the home of Sarah's famous pink striped overalls.

The Mad Woman in the Attic - The Paradise of Death:

Amusement parks are a principal setting for both of these stories. But in The Paradise of Death, that's only the start, and Sarah is soon whooshing across the galaxy being captured, rescued, captured again, rescued some more, and trying to pin the Doctor down long enough to interview him.

The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith - Pyramids of Mars:

Sarah spends the majority of both of these episodes running around and being cross while dressed in white. But in only one of them does she get the opportunity to show off her knowledge of Egyptian mythology.

The Eternity Trap - Ghost Town:

If you thought The Eternity Trap was frightening, try listening to Ghost Town with the lights off. Or don't, because it's crazy spooky. And set in Romania, ooh, exotic!

Mona Lisa's Revenge - Ghosts of N-Space:

Remember how watching Mona Lisa's Revenge left you feeling confused and bewildered, but in sort of an exciting way? Ghosts of N-Space is a bit like that. With cross-dressing.

The Gift - The Seeds of Doom:

Aggressive alien plants threaten to take over the world - but Sarah is on hand to stop it! Also, both feature Sarah visiting Antarctica, which she also does in the Big Finish audio Snow Blind.
